James Bridle writes and makes artworks about the ways in which new technology effects every aspect of our lives, even if we’re not aware of it. In his book New Dark Age (Verso, 2018) he explored the way in which the history and present of computation and the internet has affected our ability to understand the world, and is complicit in the present confusion and turbulence of history.
At present, he is working on a follow-up to New Dark Age, which explores the relationship between technology and ecology, in an age of climate change, political turmoil, and artificial intelligence, and in this talk he discussed his research and thinking around this topic.
